Are we too fond of buffets ?

Funny this Christmas sure don't feel like a Christmas for me. Since Christmas eve, I've attended 3 parties & the food of choice "Buffet" ! Sporeans seems to be obsess over buffets.

Buffets remain popular maybe because they offer a range of options and typically provide great value. Especially for price conscious consumers who are very sensitive to the cost-value balance, and they want to feel like they get a lot of bang for their buck. But the bad thing is one tend to over eat.

But it's after all Christmas. I'll pass on the next buffet offer. I long for some log cake or a piece of hard turkey ....lol.... & I rather go have a chicken rice or laska now.

Does weighing yourself often during your weight loss program, helps you lose weight faster?

Stepping on the scale is common among dieters but how does the frequency of weigh-ins impact weight? A new study showed that the more frequently dieters weighed themselves the more weight they lost, and if participants went more than a week without weighing themselves, they gained weight.

This observational study cannot prove causation -- it may be that less serious dieters weight themselves less or that dieters who stop losing weight stop weighting themselves.
Previous Findings by the Research Team
Weigh yourself at least once a week if you wish to lose weight, and weighing yourself everyday may help you stay on track. A previous study by the same research team found that your weight naturally fluctuates throughout the week and that most people weigh the least on Wednesday.
To summarize both studies :If you want to lose weight, it's best to weigh yourself every day. But if you weigh yourself only once a week, do it on Wednesday because that will give you the most accurate reading.

Social smoking ?

I noticed some of my friends from work have started doing social smoking or as they put it "I'm having an occasional 'social' cigarette only what !" !

Merry Christmas all !
Don’t know how it got started? Actually I do, since the arrival of the new guy ! He’s suave & smoking makes him looks hotter (according to a few female sources !!!)  Suddenly everyone started this “social smoking trend” .  Sorry, even one cigarette every two weeks is still hurting your health. According to research, even so-called light smoking carries an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

For those of you who’s already hooked, get rid of your “supplies” from your house or purse, and let friends know you’re trying to kick the habit so they won’t mindlessly offer you a smoke. Our new guy is aimlessly doing that, & everyone just took it. Argh…….

Research shows that the more you prep for quitting—both by letting other people know about your plan and also creating strategies you’ll employ when you face temptation, such as chewing a piece of gum as soon as the craving strikes—the more successful you’ll be. So figure out your strategy  and get seriously creative—if you need to ask your smoking pal to charge you $20 whenever you ask her for a light makes you kick the habit, then go for it!
